Areas of Interest

Dr. Gaume was drawn to the specialty of pain management when he was an anesthesiologist. He focuses on interventional techniques, including cooled radiofrequency ablation therapy for the treatment of arthritic joint pain, such as in the knees, hips and lower back; spinal cord stimulation; joint andĀ epidural stimulators; and peripheral nerve blocks under ultrasound guidance.

Dr. Gaume, who grew up in the Quindaro Holmes neighborhood of Kansas City, Kansas, always wanted to be a physician and was the first child in his family to graduate from college. His father was a barber, and his mother still works as a hair stylist. He and his wife have two daughters, and they spend much of their spare time supporting their daughters' golfing activities. He also enjoys bird watching, including traveling internationally to photograph birds.
